چکیده

Introduction: Febrile neutropenia (FN) is the most frequent complications reported during cytotoxic chemotherapy treatment. Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GCSF) used to reduce and related complications. This study compares short versus long acting filgrastim for reduction of induced FN. Methods: Histologically confirmed solid cancer patients (n=112) receiving either high risk or intermediate regimens FN were randomized into two groups. Group one received 300 mcg subcutaneously five days group pegfilgrastim 6 mg single dose, starting after 24 hours completion each cycle. The primary end point was occurrence secondary points number hospital visits, duration stay total direct costs pegfilgrastim. Results: Fifty six analyzed in group. incidence significantly lower (42.90%) than (69.6%), p<0.004. mean visits 1.84±1.93 0.84±1.19 with 58.90% 33.90% admission respectively both 4.14±3.69 2.36±3.35 cost (Nepali rupees) 20162.50+6645.37 (US$168.17±55.42) 32210.71±10429.43($268.67±86.99) respectively. Conclusion: Single dose better multiple doses reducing chemotherapy.

Comparison Review of Short-Acting and Long-Acting Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are useful tools for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. In their recent position statement, the American Diabetes Association and European Association for the Study of Diabetes recommend GLP1-RAs as add-on to metformin when therapeutic goals are not achieved with monotherapy, particularly for patients who wish to avoid weight gain or...

Chemotherapy induced febrile neutropenia: management and prevention.

chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of cancer therapy. In most cases bone marrow suppression represents the doselimiting toxicity of these drugs. Druginduced DNA damage at the level of bone marrow progenitor cells results in a fall in circulating neutrophil count. Patients with neutropenia are at increased risk of infection and sepsis.1 The timing of neutropenia is generally predictable; it ty...

LONG-ACTING CONTRACEPTIVE AGENTS: TESTOSTERONE ESTERS OF CYCLOALKYLCARBOXYLIC ACIDS

The synthesis of twenty five esters of testosterone (17β -hydroxyandrost- 4-en-3-one) is described. All esters are derivatives of cycloalkycarboxylic acids. Some of the esters possess α- , β -and/or & - substitution in the ester side-chain. The work was undertaken in order to evaluate long-acting male antifertility effect of such esters. Most of the compounds, especially compound No.1, wer...

Chemotherapy-Induced Neutropenia in HIV Positive Patients with Lymphoma: Comparison of Pegfilgrastim with Daily Filgrastim Administration

We retrospectively compared the incidence of neutropenia in two groups of HIV patients with lymphoma, who underwent chemotherapy supported by once-per-cycle administration of pegfilgrastim or by daily subcutaneous injection of filgrastim, respectively. Our findings indicate that pegfilgrastim and filgastrim produce similar results in preventing both neutropenia and febrile neutropenia.
